To save space on a cramped bridge and improve display quality, Furuno now offers the MU150HD (15-inch) and MU190HD (19-inch) flat panel marine monitors. Extremely bright (1,000 candela) LED backlit color TFT LCD displays, with a special anti-reflective glass filter, cut down glare and are easy to read in extreme sunlight and in the dark. High efficiency, lower power consumption, bright colors, excellent contrast, wide viewing angles and the ability to dim are other distinctive features of these monitors, according to the manufacturer. The LCD is bonded to the glass lens surface, ensuring "a lifetime of fog-free operation in open flybridge installations," according to Furuno. Both monitors handle a wide range of input resolutions and interfaces and offer the new DVI on-off feature that automatically turns the monitor's power on or off depending on the presence of a DVI video signal. MSRP is $6,495 for the 15-inch and $7,495 for the 19-inch model. Furuno U.S.A., Camas, Wash., Phone: (360) 834-9300, www.furunousa.com
