A whale of a good time
Test your knowledge and learn something new about the wide blue yonder with "Do Whales Get the Bends? 118 Questions About Sea Life and Man's Relationship with the Sea" ($17.95, Sheridan House Inc., 2010).
Author Tony Rice covers topics such as how do flying fish fly, who owns the oceans, and everything else on, under or part of the sea. Each entry is no more than two or three pages, making it a quick reference, and its softcover binding makes it a portable and easy read.
Rice is a retired marine biologist whose inspiration for the book came from the questions he was asked while guest-lecturing on a cruise ship. He has also written "British Oceanographic Vessels 1800-1950," "Decommissioning The Brent Spar" (co-author Paula Owen), "Voyages of Discovery," and "Deep Oceans." He currently lives in the United Kingdom. For information, visit www.sheridanhouse.com
