VIDEO: Two killed in cat crash

The first of three race days at the Key West Super Boat World Championship was marred by the deaths Wednesday of two competitors.

Big Thunder Marine, a 46-foot Skater catamaran with quad 1,200-hp engines, went airborne during the third lap of one of Wednesday's races inside Key West Harbor.

Robert M. Morgan of Sunrise Beach, Mo., and Jeffrey Tillman of Kaiser, Mo., the throttleman and driver, respectively, died of injuries sustained in the crash.

A memorial service for Morgan and Tillman was scheduled for Thursday morning in the race pits at the Truman Waterfront. Racing will go on as scheduled Friday and Sunday, according to race director John Carbonell.

On land I am a motor head but on the water I do not like to disturb the fish. I have not used an engine on my 26' sailboat for at least 15 years.
