VIDEO: Narrow escape

A crew for Canada’s Global National newscast was shooting the evacuation by boat of residents in Johnsons Landing, British Columbia, the day after last week’s massive landslide when another slide spilled into Kootenay Lake.
Hearing the rumble of mud and uprooted trees crashing down the mountain, a person quickly boards the small boat and the skipper backs away from shore — just seconds before the debris would have consumed them.

The landslides were triggered when a creek “burst” because of heavy rain, collapsing the hillside, according to published reports. Four people — a man and his two daughters, and a German tourist — were killed in the initial slide on July 12.
It reminds one a little of this amazing footage that ran in Soundings Dispatches in March.
