VIDEO: Power of the sea

The video below depicts the incredible strength and power — and beauty — of the sea, at her margins, as well as offshore.

Watch commercial fishermen and workboats jog into extremely “boisterous” conditions: monstrous seas, gale winds, sheets of spray. It gives you an appreciation for the expression “a well-found boat.” This is no place to lose an engine, broach or suffer a hull breach.

Click play to watch the wonder of Mother Nature.

Prone to mal de mer? You might have sympathy for the seamen aboard the vessels here. You will witness, in the words of an old Cape Horner, those “windswept fields of eternity.”

This brought back memories of being in heavy seas. Nothing else like it on earth and confers bragging rights. Our fellow sailors were the best. Bring it on, baby!

I was exhausted watching the video - my body kept tensing for every rise and fall... How was it made - from a helicopter? or another boat, or both?
