Savoring moments with my brother at sea

A shakedown cruise aboard Escape, a 28-foot express cruiser, helped the author reconnect with his older brother, Bob.On a stunning June morning my brother, Bobby, and I walked the marina docks together as we'd done so many times as kids on Long Beach Island, N.J.

I spotted my new boat and pointed it out. "Ah, there it is Bob."
"This one here? The blue-and-white one?" he asked.
"Yup, that's it."
"You're kidding. That's a beautiful boat, Jim. It looks like new. ... Congratulations."

50th Shelter Island Runabout splashed

This is the 50th Shelter Island Runabout splashed since Billy Joel's first in 1996.Coecles Harbor Marine in Shelter Island, N.Y., launched the 50th Shelter Island Runabout. Conceived by singer/songwriter Billy Joel and designed by Doug Zurn, the first runabout was built for Joel and launched in 1996. Hull No. 50 is for a second-generation owner, whose father launched hull No. 2 in 1997.
