HOLED — Fishing vessel Sarah-Kate sits aground in Rockland Harbor, Maine as strong winds passed through the area. The Coast Guard reported that at least five boats came loose from their moorings.

Shallow Water


Coast Guard crew from Station Chincoteague demonstrates the capabilities of the 24-foot Special Purpose Craft - Shallow Water - in the Elizabeth River near Portsmouth, Va. The SPC-SW, intended to operate in areas that other response boats cannot reach, will enhance capabilities for search and rescue, law enforcement and Homeland Security missions.

Coast Guard cutter Tiger Shark transits the East River July 3 near one of four man-made waterfalls at the Brooklyn Bridge in New York Harbor. The waterfall art project, funded by New York’s Public Art Fund, was created in the hope of attracting 1.5 million more tourists to New York during the three months the project is in operation. The exhibit is to last until mid-October.
