Three rescued after vessels collide

Boston

Coast Guard rescue crews helped three mariners from a fishing vessel that was taking on water after a collision southeast of Hull, Mass.

Coast Guard Sector Boston watchstanders received a distress call via VHF channel 16 from the vessel West Bay, a 600-foot bulk carrier.

Contractors begin the process of righting a beached 65-foot commercial fishing vessel Jan. 4 at Francis State Beach on California's Half Moon Bay. Coast Guard Sector San Francisco pollution investigators monitored the situation to prevent any environmental problems.

Mishaps & rescues - Connecticut and New York - Jan.

NEW KID ON THE BLOCK

A boat crew from Coast Guard Station New London, Conn., takes attendees of Station New London's response boat ceremony for a tour Oct. 28 on the station's new 45-foot response boat. The vessel is the first to be delivered to the station to replace the aging 41-foot utility boats that have been in use for more than 25 years.
