Mishaps and Rescues New England October 2010

GOOD SAMARITAN - The crew of a commercial vessel extinguishes a fire aboard a recreational boat. Coast Guard crews responded to a boat fire July 21 six miles north of Provincetown, Mass. Three persons on the burning vessel jumped overboard after reporting their vessel's engines caught fire. A good Samaritan in the area recovered the passengers and they were reported to be in good condition.

Anglers adrift without fuel

Atlantic City, N.J.

The Coast Guard rescued four people after the 22-foot fishing boat they were aboard ran out of gas 70 miles east of Cape May, N.J. The Coast Guard received a call at approximately 1:05 p.m. from the spouse of one of the passengers aboard, stating her husband was to be home at 3.p.m. and he had not yet returned. His truck and trailer were still parked at the boat ramp from where he left.

The Coast Guard rescued the pilot of a seaplane that crashed after it reportedly struck a rock during landing at around 1:30 p.m. in Peconic Bay near Shinnecock on Long Island.
