COLLISION WITH TANK SHIP - The towing vessel Dixie Vengeance and the two barges it was pushing collided Jan. 23 with the 807-foot tank ship Eagle Otome in Port Arthur. Vessel Traffic Service Port Arthur received notification of the incident at 9:30 a.m.

Recent Coast Guard responses from Boston to Florida

Disabled engine 40 miles off Nantucket

Boston

The Coast Guard responded to a disabled vessel 40 miles southeast of Nantucket. The crew of seven aboard the fishing vessel Diligence notified the Coast Guard at 3 a.m. that their engine was disabled.

Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England diverted the Coast Guard cutter Grand Isle to the Diligence.

There were no reports of injuries at the time. (Feb. 5)

U.S. Coast Guard helps in Haitian relief

A U.S. Coast Guard boat patrols the waters of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. As part of Operation Unified Response, a U.S. Navy and Army dive task force is assessing the damage done to Haitian port facilities.The Coast Guard is supporting the massive relief effort in Haiti by providing humanitarian assistance to Haitian survivors, evacuating critically injured U.S. personnel and evacuating U.S. citizens from Haiti.
