A fisherman pulled a beer bottle with the scribbled message out of the Baltic off the northern German city of Kiel last month. The postcard inside was tossed into the sea 101 years earlier.

1860 wreck added to National Register

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced that the wreck of the ship Robert J. Walker, a steamer that served in the U.S. Coast Survey, a predecessor agency of NOAA’s Office of Coast Survey, was recently added to the National Register of Historic Places.
