The Foiler may look like a fugitive from the set of a 007 film, but it’s a hybrid diesel-electric “flying yacht” that rides 5 feet off the surface on four carbon fiber hydrofoils. Twin BMW diesels drive two generators to provide electric power, which is transferred to two electric “torpedoes” that propel the boat. The 31-footer foils at 17 knots and has a top end of 40 knots. foiler.com
