The new edition of the Vicem 58 Classic is an evolution of a design that the Turkish builder introduced in 2010. Vicem took the wraps off the boat at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in November.
Below you’ll find the traditional good looks and craftsmanship for which Vicem is known. Teak and mahogany blend with off-white upholstery, stone and painted woodwork to create a Down East vibe. The three-stateroom layout includes a master with an island berth in the bow, a port-side stateroom with bunks and a stateroom with a pair of twin berths across from the galley. There are two heads, each with an enclosed shower.
The saloon is designed as a companion area to the cockpit. Wood-framed sliding glass doors at the saloon’s after end open wide to connect the spaces. Different saloon layouts are available; the show model had two long lounges to port and starboard. The helm is to starboard behind a triple-pane glass windshield.
Bucking the galley-up trend, Vicem designed the 58 Classic with a lower galley that has an atrium-like space above it, making it feel intimately connected to the saloon. The L-shaped galley feels large for a boat of this class and size, and it has banks of teak cabinetry for stowage. Appliances include a drawer-style freezer and refrigerator, a four-burner electric stove with an oven, and a microwave.
The cockpit is nearly as large as the saloon and has an L-shaped transom lounge seat around a teak table, plus a companion seat, a chaise lounge and a starboard-side wet bar with a grill. Side decks lead to the bow, and a nearly full-length, stainless-steel rail gives a secure feeling while walking forward.
Standard power is a pair of 725-hp Volvo Penta D8 diesels, which give the 58 Classic a top speed of 29 knots. She cruises efficiently at 25 knots, according to the builder.
