Paintings of saltwater fish
Renowned naturalist, artist and angler James Prosek captures 35 of the most pursued fish, from striped bass to swords, in beautifully detailed watercolor paintings in “Ocean Fishes” (Rizzoli, $27.20 hardcover, Amazon).
The artist traveled the world to experience these fish firsthand and create original works, presented in a 7.4-by-10.4-inch format. A foreword by author Peter Matthiessen and essays on Prosek’s artistic style by Robert M. Peck and Christopher Riopelle, curators at major art museums, supplement the artwork. Prosek’s previous collection of paintings, “Trout: An Illustrated History,” earned him the moniker the “Audubon of the fishing world.”
