New pieces of equipment that caught the eye of Dieter Loibner this month include a boombox, freezer packs, boat shoes, a night vision camera and duffel bags and backpacks.

The Eco Terra is a submersible, floating, waterproof and shock-resistant boombox for MP3 players and smart phones with a 3.5mm jack, including iPod, iPhone, Blackberry and Android. The internal casing houses the music player — plus cash, credit cards and keys — and the polycarbonate shell protects the device and the two 3-inch speakers. xGrundens USA has added the Shackleton duffel bag and Rum Runner backpack to its Gage technical gear line. Rugged and waterproof, the bags are manufactured to the same standards as gear for Bering Sea crab fishermen. Made from 500-denier PVC tarpaulin fabric with radio frequency welded seams and rolltop closures, both packs keep gear dry and protected. Nu-Ice freezer packs

Nu-Ice was developed for vaccine shipments, which demand stringent temperature parameters. Now the company is introducing Marine Series freezer packs, which create a cold, dry space in coolers and fishboxes. The company says they last longer than conventional or dry ice and are non-toxic, environmentally safe and reusable. Nu-Ice packs can maintain subzero temperatures for 96 hours and come in two sizes: zero degrees C and minus 16 degrees C. A 2-pound bag retails for $14.95, and 5-pound bags cost $24.95. Sebago Triwater

Sebago is aiming its new Triwater line of boating shoes at water sports enthusiasts, including competitive sailors, anglers and casual boaters. Waterproof leather, a breathable mesh lining, vibration-dampening technology, toe and heel protection, and slip-resistant, non-marking outer soles are among the key features. The M-618CS night vision camera features 640-by-480 resolution thermal imaging and 2x and 4x E-Zoom; a 35mm lens with extended range that detects small vessels from more than 2 miles away; active gyro-stabilization for steady imagery in rough seas; a color TV camera with 10x optical zoom; and a rugged, waterproof gimbal enclosure with a continuous 360-degree pan and plus or minus 90-degree tilt capability.
