Amid the rise of environmentally friendly boating products, Interlux introduced Pacifica Plus, a copper-free antifouling paint that contains Econea, a new antifouling agent that targets shell fouling.
Formulated to meet the most stringent volatile organic compound regulations, Pacifica Plus uses a controlled biocide release mechanism to combat fouling, and Biolux technology to control slime, according to the manufacturer. It erodes over time, which reduces paint buildup and minimizes surface preparation for recoating. Pacifica Plus is also ideal for use on underwater metal surfaces, fiberglass, wood or aluminum.
Drying times are short, Interlux says, which allows boats to be painted and launched the same day. Pacifica Plus is available only in the United States and comes in multiple colors — including blue, black and red — and is compatible with most other antifouling paints. The retail price is $230 per gallon. Interlux, Union, N.J. Phone: (800) 468-7589. www.yachtpaint.com.
