Built using aircraft-grade aluminum and stainless-steel fasteners, the Mariner folding electric bike from Prodeco is powered by a 200-watt motor incorporated into the front hub and a 2,000-cycle, 36-volt lithium battery mounted above the rear wheel.
The rider can pedal the Mariner like a conventional bicycle or twist the throttle to activate the “power on demand” propulsion system to reach speeds as high as 16 mph. The Mariner is assembled at the Prodeco plant in Florida and sells for $999. Prodeco Technologies, www.prodecotech.com.
