57-foot retro commuter yacht designed for Billy Joel

Grammy-award winning musician Billy Joel consulted with Zurn Yacht Design on creating a 57-foot commuter-style yacht for use on Long Island Sound in New York.

The boat, Vendetta, is styled in the classic manner of commuter yachts of the 1920s.

The design firm said Joel’s completion of his Oyster Bay, Long Island, real estate and his frequent trips to New York City was the driving force in deciding to proceed with a commuter-style yacht.

“Her appearance harks back to a bygone era of Long Island Sound commuter boats, combined with the performance and speed of The Shelter Island Runabout,” Doug Zurn said in a statement. “She will provide a quick, smooth ride in the often short chop of Long Island Sound and the menacing Hell Gate.”

Talking Boats With Billy Joel

The singer-songwriter has always loved being on the water. Soundings recently sat down with Joel to talk about the many boats he’s owned.
