Jack Igoe has a sense of what his first Mac will be like. ‘‘I think that will be pretty fun,’’ the 8-year-old Chicago resident said.
‘‘He doesn’t know what happens after the race,’’ his father, Phil, said. ‘‘He will find that out afterward.’’
Rich traditions will be carried on in the 103rd Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac. It begins today with 51 boats in the cruising division setting sail. The bulk of the 361-boat fleet, the racing divisions, set sail on the 333 miles from Chicago to Mackinac Island, Mich., on Saturday.
