Attempted boat launch ends with submerged car

A man using a disputed Lake Elsinore boat launch in Southern California on Tuesday ended up with his Jeep Grand Cherokee submerged in the lake.

Terrance Thielan said the Jeep had no traction on the algae-slickened concrete launch.

“It just slipped into the water,” Thielan said.

A Riverside County hazmat team was called in to clean up spilled oil and gas.

To add to the misery, Thielan was cited for suspicion of trespassing, illegal launching of a boat and launching without a day pass, Riverside County sheriff’s Deputy Tommy Mix said.
