Back Cove’s First Outboard Boat

Publish date:

Back Cove Yachts has taken the wraps off its first outboard-powered boat, the 34O. “Back Cove recognizes the shift to outboard power that is going on in the market,” says Bentley Collins, vice president of marketing and sales. “This first Back Cove outboard retains all of the elements of the other models in the Back Cove range, including Down East styling, a cruisable interior layout and a helm deck that can be enjoyed in any weather.”

Based on the hull and deck of the Back Cove 32, the 34O (the “O” stands for outboard) comes standard with a pair of Yamaha F300s. A pair of Yamaha F350s or Suzuki DF350A 4-strokes are optional. The builder expects a top end around 35 to 40 knots and an efficient cruise between 30 and 35 knots.

The deck plan and interior on the 34O mimic those of the Back Cove 32. That means a single-stateroom layout with an island berth, an enclosed head and a separate shower. On the bridge deck are a C-shaped dinette; a two-burner stove, sink, microwave and pullout refrigerator; and the helm and companion seating.

The bridge deck opens to the cockpit. Each inboard corner of the transom has an L-shaped settee with a drop-in teak cocktail table. An electric sunshade can be deployed over the cockpit with the push of a button. (Pricing was unavailable at press time.)
