Boat fire extinguishers: four myths from the BoatUS Foundation

Every spring, the BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water receives questions from boaters about fire extinguishers.

To help set the record straight here are four fire extinguisher myths debunked: Tapping or striking the extinguisher keeps the contents “fresh;” All extinguishers must be mounted with a bracket; Fire extinguishers get old and go “bad” every year; The law says you only need to carry one extinguisher.
