Boat likely destroyed in Japanese tsunami turns up in Oregon
The boat’s journey likely began four years ago, in the wake of Japan’s devastating tsunami of 2011.
A big piece of the vessel is believed to have broken off in a tsunami and traveled thousands of miles from Japan before it recently arrived off the central coast of Oregon.
What distinguishes this trans-Pacific traveler from other tsunami boats is its contents: About 20 live yellowtail jack fish, representing a species usually found in the waters off Japan.
