The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) announced it will postpone the 2008 Liberty Boat Show, originally scheduled for Sept. 25-28, to Oct. 1-4, 2009 to allow time for more exhibitors to make a showing, according to a recent press release.

The show will be held at its original venue: LibertyState Park’s Liberty Landing Marina in Jersey City,N.J., near Manhattan.

“The decision to postpone Liberty was born out of the challenging economic climate our industry is currently facing and our desire to provide a solid and worthwhile show for our exhibitors,” says Ben Wold, NMMA executive vice president, in the report.

This decision was discussed at length with the current Liberty exhibitors, who strongly agreed to push the show back by a year. The opinion was to put on a strong show in 2009, rather than trying to push products in the midst of the present market conditions, according to the report. The NMMA bought the show in May from Liberty Event Management LLC.
