Boat swims in gasoline

A planned offshore fishing trip led to a hull filled with 71 gallons of gasoline last week in Florida.

St. Johns County Fire Rescue officials said an unnamed individual intent on filling up his 27- or 28-foot boat around 5:30 a.m. accidentally filled the boat itself with gas rather than the gas tank.

"We are gathering that he inadvertently stuck the gasoline pump into the pole holder instead of the gasoline tank," said a fire department spokesman.
