A Seattle-area boater who was the victim of a boat break-in and theft solved his own crime when he spotted the stolen goods for sale on eBay.
Investigators arrested three people last week in connection with a rash of boat break-ins, according to a story on Seattlepi.com . Thieves broke into 20 boats at the Cornet Bay Marina Jan. 13, taking GPS and radar units, and fishfinders. A similar break-in took place at Mariners Cove just before Christmas.
The detectives didn't have a lot to go on until one of the boat owners noticed his stolen property was for sale on the Internet site eBay. Investigators identified the seller, and found about $13,000 of electronic equipment at the suspect's apartment.
