Boaters sound off on holiday gifts

BoatU.S. recently polled it members on what nautical gifts they'd most want to find under the Christmas tree.

In a multiple-choice opinion poll of the association's more than half-million powerboat- and sailboat-owning members asking for their Christmas gift wishes, a new Global Positioning System (GPS) was the No. 1 choice with 22 percent of all votes, while "a new boat" and "foul weather gear," came in second and third, respectively. Additionally, a remarkable 36 percent admitted they had been bad and would expect nothing from Santa this year.

"From this data we can assume that 'good' boaters don't like being lost, and also enjoy being aboard shiny new boats in the rain," according to the press release.
