Boston Whaler, based in Edgewater, Fla., announced the premiere issue of Whaler, its new lifestyle magazine.
Set to be published twice a year, Whaler is a resource for owners and prospective customers to learn about the company's boat line and boating heritage, while promoting the "Whaler" lifestyle with editorial content and high-quality photography.
"Our history, our employees - and most of all, our customers - demonstrate that Boston Whaler is more than just a boat," said Ben Cast, vice president of sales, marketing and customer service, in a statement. "It's truly a lifestyle. Whaler carries an amazingly rich legacy and some incredible stories - things that you can't properly share in a promotional piece or a catalog. A magazine platform allows us to tell the brand story to anybody, anywhere."
Boston Whaler is also launching the new 170 Super Sport model, the largest of its line of three (130 and 150) simple, open boats designed for use as a tender, runabout or as a fishing platform.
The new model - also engineered with the company's patented Unibond system, known for its unsinkability - features a standard dash glove compartment and watertight Pelican case, a forward anchor locker, a custom-molded fiberglass side console with storage and a portside storage shelf with storage net below. The model comes standard with a 60-hp FourStroke Mercury outboard.
