Celebrated boatbuilder hands over the reins
Master boatbuilder Ralph Stanley, the dean of wooden boatbuilders in Maine, is handing over his 57-year-old business to his business partner — his son, Richard — at the age of 80.In all, he built and restored more than 70 boats, particularly his own “Stanley” line of Down East boats.
