With all vessels safely in port, their captains and first mates partied. That was the undercurrent of Saturday night's ninth annual Commodore's Ball and Change of Watch at Florida's Marco Island Yacht Club.
The venerable tradition of changing officers afforded plenty of pomp and circumstance, but the evening gave way to some fun, too, showcasing club members who enjoy what they do.
"This is a festive evening of change," said Mary Ann (M.A.) Kline, outgoing commodore and first female to hold the club's highest office. "It is also a solemn and official ceremony recognizing the outgoing bridge and installing those who will now take the helm of club activities."
