Charterboat hijacking stirs manhunt

When a charter fishing boat skipper finds himself at the point of a knife wielded by two strangers who want to be dropped off on the foreign shore across the Niagara River, it’s a sure bet that a lot of people besides the skipper are going to pay attention.

That’s the situation a Canadian boat captain encountered Tuesday and later told the U.S. Coast Guard about after his vessel was hijacked out of Queenston, Ont. And authorities on both sides of the border were paying attention.
