The Coast Guard broke ground Monday morning on a new small-boat station at Training Center Cape May that will house three cutters, an aids-to-navigation team and a new vessel boarding security component that will monitor marine traffic.

U.S. Rep. Frank LoBiondo, R-2nd, who helped secure more than $13 million in federal funding for the station, said it will replace buildings constructed here by the U.S. Army more than half a century ago.
