Coast Guardsman faces court martial

The Coast Guardsman who piloted the boat that killed a boy last December in San Diego will stand for a general court-martial, but two other crewmembers will face much-reduced penalties, the officer overseeing the case announced Wednesday.

The Coast Guard is now focusing the brunt of its prosecution on Petty Officer 3rd Class Paul A. Ramos, 21, who will be tried at a general court-martial on charges of involuntary manslaughter, negligent homicide, aggravated assault and lesser counts.
