House Resolution 410 was introduced by U.S. Reps. Ron Klein, D-Fla., and Henry Brown, R-S.C., along with Congressional Boating Caucus co-chairs Candice Miller, R-Mich. and Gene Taylor, D-Miss. The measure passed with 27 bipartisan co-sponsors. It must now move through the Senate before the President can issue a national proclamation in observance of the day.

"This resolution affirms Congress' commitment to the U.S. recreational boating industry and the importance of spending time on the water with family for so many Americans," said Thom Dammrich, president of the National Marine Manufacturers Association, in a statement.
