NOV. 17 — A performance powerboat that was driven by actor Don Johnson during the first season of the 1980s hit television show “Miami Vice” is up for sale on the auction Web site eBay .
The boat, a restored Chris-Craft 390 Stinger race boat, was used in 1984-’85 during the first season of “Miami Vice,” according to information on the boat’s Web site . The opening bid for the boat started at $100. As of Wednesday the highest bid was $23,100.
Earlier this year the 39-footer underwent an extensive restoration, according to the Web site. Some of the work done to the boat includes installation of a Bimini top, replacement of interior carpets and couches, rebuilt drives and installation of new exhaust manifolds. A swim platform, that extends the boat’s length to 42 feet, is optional.
“We have done our best to restore this boat to its exact original condition,” the boat’s owners say on the Web site. “The only thing that has not been done is to sand and repaint the original hull color. The hull is still in great shape. There are minor scratches, etc., on it,but very minor.”
The sale of the boat is being sponsored by travel Web site tictrip.com. The boat will be up for auction until Nov. 20.
