Cruising sailor killed by pirates

A 24-year-old woman piloted a 35-foot Ericson sailing yacht through rough seas off Honduras with her dead father's body on board Friday to escape the scene of a fatal attack by pirates.

Myda Egrmajer, 24, was nearing a large Australian vessel when her engine began smoking and then conked out, said her cousin, Eric van Riesen.

"She was adrift in the ocean," Van Riesen said. "When push came to shove, she chased off the assailants and piloted this boat through heavy seas to get a passing ship to rescue her. She's a tough cookie."
