Despite poor economy, boating’s still a pleasure for many

The Providence Journal published a profile – a snapshot of sorts – of Rhode Island boaters and how the economy is changing the way they spend time on the water.

“You have to adjust with the times,” Anthony Marcello of Cranston told the newspaper. “You still want to get the enjoyment, even if that means spending less money.”

Marcello was sitting in the back of his boat, a 32-foot Cruisers model, berthed at D dock at Brewer Greenwich Bay Marina. “We still go out, but just not as much. Back and forth to Jamestown, you’re talking $300.”
