• West 79th Street Boat Basin — (212) 496-2105, VHF channel 9, www.nycgovparks.org — is on the Hudson River at the end of West 79th Street and has floating docks and moorings for boats to 200 feet. Slips are $2.50 per foot per day, and moorings are $30 per day and $180 for a week. Rates for electricity range from $10 to $35 per day. Access to showers, laundry and restrooms is available. Pumpouts are free.

• Liberty Landing Marina — (201) 985-8000, VHF channel 72, www.libertylandingmarina.com — is across from the Battery, on the Hudson River in Jersey City, N.J. Transient rates range from $2.50 to $4.50 per foot per day depending on boat size and season. Electricity ranges from 30 cents to 60 cents per foot per day. Services include full carpentry, paint and mechanical. Pumpouts for transients are $5. Showers, laundry and restrooms are available.

• Shipyard Marina — (201) 798-8080, VHF channel 78, www.shipyardmarina.com — is at the 13th Street Pier on the Hudson River in Hoboken, N.J. Transient slips are $2 per foot per day, water included. Rates for electricity vary depending on boat size. The marina offers restrooms, showers, private changing rooms, a waterfront bar and 24-hour security.

• World’s Fair Marina — (718) 478-0480, VHF channel 71, www.nycgovparks.org — is located on the East River a mile west of the Whitestone Bridge in Flushing, Queens. The marina has 12 transient slips for $2 per foot per day, and can accommodate boats up to 110 feet. Services include electricity, pumpout, laundry and showers.

• Surfside 3 Marina at Chelsea Piers — (212) 336-7873, VHF channel 68, www.northeast.marinemax.com — is part of a 30-acre sports village on the Hudson River between 17th and 23rd streets. The marina has both floating and fixed transient dockage for boats to 200 feet. Rates range from $5 to $7 per foot per day, depending on boat size and type of dock you tie up to. Water, cable and Internet is included. Rates for electricity range from $15 to $125 per night depending on boat size. Showers and restrooms are available. The marina doesn’t have a breakwall, so large wakes aren’t uncommon. There are no fuel or pumpout services.
