Diver uncovers 100-year-old anchor

A New Hampshire amateur diver came across something he'd never found before on the bottom - a more than 6-foot anchor he hauled ashore.

He suspects the anchor may have been lost after a storm or after a rope broke from a schooner that traveled the Piscataqua River years ago. Since the stock of the anchor is wooden, he also thinks it may be from the 1800s, around the 1850s.

"I'm trying to get some history behind it, but so far with my Web searches, I haven't found much," he said.
