The New England Science & Sailing Foundation has set aside Earth Day 2012 to host an Open House for the community at its Stonington (Conn.) campus from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
All are welcome to come meet the staff, tour the waterfront facilities, learn about spring and summer programs and check out the boats at the dock. In addition, staff will organize games and crafts geared toward enhancing awareness of our greatest resource, Fishers Island Sound, with its diverse marine ecosystems, and how we all can help protect it.
The plan is to have plenty of watercraft on hand at the dock — from working fishing vessels to official patrol and rescue boats. Visitors can see the progress of the foundation's renovations to its main building, which include a new marine science lab and classroom. Everyone is welcome to explore and ask questions.
