Family rescued after being lost at sea for six days

A family of four lost for six days - hundreds of miles out to sea in the Pacific Ocean aboard a 13-foot aluminum boat - have been rescued.

They were spotted adrift by the New Zealand Air Force. A fast rescue ship was then dispatched by the U.S. Coast Guard to pick them up 2,300 miles south of Hawaii and 230 miles from the atoll of Butaritari, the nearest body of land.

The family - a 53-year-old man, a woman aged 54, and two seven-year-old boys - were treated for mild hypothermia, malnourishment and dehydration.
