Fellow paddlers blame whales for drowning

A pod of pilot whales is being blamed in the accidental drowning of a Massachusetts man whose canoe capsized in Provincetown Harbor.

The police were alerted to the distressed boaters at about 11 a.m. by a caller who could see the canoeists were in trouble from the shore, Provincetown Police chief Jeff Jaran says. The water was cold, in the mid- to high-40s, but the seas were calm.
