Fishermen stranded overnight rescued

A Coast Guard crew from Michigan’s Station Saginaw River rescued two mariners who went missing late last Saturday in Saginaw Bay, Coast Guard officials report.

“These guys went out fishing and, about five or six miles out, their boat quit running,” said Steve Gambill, owner of Gambill’s Landing, who notified Coast Guard watchstanders that two vessels were overdue.

Coast Guard seaman Wes Simmons said the stranded fishermen’s boat was equipped with a radio, but either it did not work or the men did not know how to work it.
