Florida father-son fishing team qualify

Father-son team Tracy and Kevin Steele of St. Lucie, Fla.-based Team Mack Daddy have qualified for the Southern Kingfish Association Tournament Trail nationals to be held Nov. 18 to 20 in Biloxi, Miss. Other members of the team are Matt Reed and Mike Rule.

It was 15-year-old Kevin’s 50-pound kingfish that propelled Team Mack Daddy to a third-place finish at the Naples Dodge Kingfish Classic in March. The team uses a 36-foot Yellowfin with triple Honda Marine 225-hp outboards. Delph Fishing Team and Team Desperado won first and second place respectively.

The younger Steele has also won the 2003 SKA Atlantic Region Junior Angler of the Year award, as well as the Division 10 junior title in 2003. He also captured the top junior prize at the 2004 Hog’s Breath King Mackerel Tournament, the largest fishing contest in the Florida Keys.
