‘Forged email’ could sink case against yacht club expulsion

The most exclusive yacht club in Sydney, Australia, is entitled to expel a businessman over a stolen bag of ice because he forged an e-mail in an attempt to clear himself, the New South Wales Supreme Court was told.

Nicholas Tsoukaris’s membership of the Royal Motor Yacht Club was revoked and he lost the right to berth his boat at the Rose Bay marina following a unanimous decision by the club’s board in August last year.

Tsoukaris wants the court to quash his expulsion, claiming that there had been a “denial of natural justice,” including that two members of the board were biased against him.
