Four days, six men, one boat

The spirits of six Australian lifeguards remained high as they entered the eighth day of their 40-day mission around their country in an inflatable rescue boat. The team is two days ahead of schedule.

"We are all pretty chirpy," crew leader Ash Matuschka said after stopping off for a night in Castle Cliff, Whanganui in New Zealand. "We just have this great energy going on at the moment."

No big problems or breakdowns have also helped the mission. They have only had to replace their spare rescue boat and had a minor problem with a support vehicle.
