Four people died and one was rescued Saturday after their boat capsized during a fishing trip on the Gulf of Mexico, according to Louisiana authorities.
A Department of Wildlife and Fisheries spokesman said the five left a marina near Venice in south Louisiana at about 6:30 a.m. Saturday, but one of their twin engines failed an hour or so later.
As the skipper of the boat shut down the other engine, everyone aboard noticed that water began to fill the boat. They scrambled for life jackets. The four deceased had possession of a life jacket, but were unable to put them on.
