Four rescued from sinking vessel

The Coast Guard rescued four people last week after the 38-foot sailboat they were aboard struck a submerged jetty off Barnegat Light, N.J.

Coast Guard watchstanders received a channel 16 radio call at approximately 7:20 p.m. from crewmembers aboard Odes of Joy reporting their vessel was rapidly taking on water and in need of assistance.

Luckily, a 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew from Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light arrived on the scene and rescued the people from the sinking vessel.
