Giant catamarans to settle America’s Cup


The 90-foot multihull created specifically for a maximum of three short races against Larry Ellison’s BMW Oracle next February emerged from the drawing boards of some of the smartest yacht designers in the world, yet even they are describing it as "dangerous."

The giant twin-hulled boat is estimated to have cost more than nearly $10 million to build. It has been compared to Pete Goss's revolutionary 120-foot catamaran Team Phillips, which famously broke up in heavy seas in the Atlantic in 2000.
