An indictment says the pilot of a powerboat was drunk when he crashed into a construction barge in New York's Hudson River in late July, killing a bride-to-be and her fiance's best man.
A grand jury indicted Jojo John, of Nyack, N.Y., on charges that include vehicular manslaughter and operating a vessel under the influence of alcohol. It says John's blood-alcohol content was nearly twice the legal limit, according to the Associated Press.
A lawyer for John said poor lighting on the barge, not any impairment, caused the crash.
Police said after the crash that they suspected John was intoxicated. The grand jury saw lab results from blood tests.
